Flag lights

Many flags are lighted at night.  The U S Flag code says:

 

It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness.

 

Other non-commercial flags may be lighted at night as protected speech.

 

Flags should be down-lighted.  The light all goes up into the sky, so use restraint. Take care to aim the lights so they don’t shine in others’ eyes.

 

1300 lumens is allowed to be pointed up at a flag.  Two such lights are:
