Where do we stand?

Victor, Driggs, and Tetonia have lighting ordinances.  Teton County has had an ordinance for new subdivisions and has now adopted an ordinance that applies to the whole county.  It uses the same limits as the cities do.  New lighting will need to meet the ordinance,  and 5 years are allowed  for existing lights to meet the it.

Rules for commercial and common area lighting are described in “Design Guide to Teton County, Idaho Non-residential Lighting”.  This brochure tells how residents can have sky– and neighbor– friendly lights that meet the ordinance for residences.

The next two pages show typical good lights.  They are fully shielded, that is,  they project no direct light goes above horizontal.
